Adding More Football to Your Thanksgiving

The countdown to Thanksgiving has begun and now it’s time to get your checklist ready to create the perfect Thanksgiving dinner. Of course, there are the essentials like turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, gravy, wine…but for a football fan, the list gets even longer. They need their jersey ready, a comfortable couch, plenty of snack foods, beer, and like-minded friends/relatives ready to cheer on their favorite team.

Why not also bring football to the Thanksgiving dinner table? Here are a few ideas we found online to help get those brain juices flowing.

Football-Themed Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs are not a stranger to a Thanksgiving appetizer menu. It doesn’t take much to add a hint of football to your deviled eggs this year.

Ingredients

1 dozen hard-cooked eggs, peeled
1/2 cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoons mango chutney
1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper
Kosher salt to taste
Garnish: sliced fresh chives (or green onion tops)

Preparation

Cut eggs in half lengthwise; carefully remove yolks. Mash yolks; stir in mayonnaise, chutney, and red pepper until blended. Spoon yolk mixture evenly into egg white halves. Sprinkle evenly with desired amount of salt. Garnish, if desired. Chill until ready to serve.

Another appetizer option while the relatives are waiting for the food to cook and watching the morning football games is a Football Salami from Norm Thompson. Their award-winning sausage is made the old-fashioned way, with fresh beef and pork, cured and slowly smoked over hickory fires. In an authentic, full-size football shape, complete with lacing and stitches.

Football Rose Centerpiece

Finally, I’ve saved the best for last. After you’ve looked at a few different food options, I would like to turn your attention to the table setting. If you walk into any store in November, you will find a cornucopia of options for Thanksgiving themed centerpieces that usually revolve around gourds and fall colors. This is fine for most dinner tables, but for diehard football fans, you’re going to need something that makes a stronger statement about your passion for football.

The good news is that, L.O.V.E.nterprises, the maker of the Baseball Rose, recently added the Football Rose to its Sports Roses product line. Each Football Rose features petals handcrafted from football leather and is accented by genuine leather laces hand-stitched on one side of the rose. The completed Football Rosebud is attached to a “realistic-looking” artificial rose stem. The end result is a rose that resembles a football that will never wilt or die.

Now you can make this Thanksgiving unforgettable and start a new tradition in your family with the Football Rose. Imagine the expression on your relatives’ faces when they come to sit down at the dinner table and see your Football Roses proudly displayed in the middle of your table…now that’s priceless.
