You’re killin’ me, Smalls!
Has it already been 20 years?!
Teens that grew up watching the classic baseball movie “The Sandlot” (released in 1993) are now showing their own kids the summer adventures of Scotty Smalls, Benny, Squints, Yeah Yeah, Ham, and the Beast.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported that on Saturday, July 20, 2013, Sandlot Director David Mickey Evans gathered a few of the original cast members for a 20th anniversary dedication of the restored Glendale, Utah sandlot used as the set in the film.
Evans also made the celebration even more memorable by proposing to his girlfriend Stacy McGillis at homeplate in the sandlot.
The Sandlot director, six original cast members, and players from the Los Angeles Angels AAA affiliate, Salt Lake Bees, spent the day at the sandlot along with 1,500 fans to answer questions, host a clinic with local little leaguers, and watch a special outdoor screening of the film.
