Mother’s Day in March Game with Baseball Roses
March 2012. In the arms of my son Jordan Kopelman, while I hold a Baseball Rose.
In my second year at Kempner High in Sugar Land, Texas, I decided to do something very special for the ladies in the lives of my players. We held a theme-game, “Mother’s Day in March” where the moms got to wear their son’s uniform and stay on the field for the national anthem.
It went over so well that when a scheduling snafu scratched it from the 2013 schedule, I got several “why aren’t we doing that again this year?” questions from the mothers. I had to do some quick thinking and ordered Baseball Roses for the end of year banquet. It all worked out, but you can bet I have it on the schedule this year and have I already have the Baseball Roses in hand……..and it’s only January!
